About Your Tutor
Meet the person behind Financial Advisor Exam Tutors.
Hi, I’m Johnny
I am a retired U.S. Army Veteran and a University of Houston–Victoria graduate, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Finance with honors (cum laude). During my military career, I served as an Instructor and initially pursued studies to become a mathematics teacher before ultimately transitioning into Finance.
In addition to my military background, I am a former State Auditor and a former member of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), experiences that strengthened my understanding of regulatory oversight, investor protection, and ethical financial practices.
Since my time in the Army, I have maintained a strong commitment to giving back to the community in meaningful ways. Teaching finance became a natural extension of that service—allowing me to equip individuals with practical, real-world financial knowledge that supports informed decision-making and long-term stability.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and personalization. I break down complex financial concepts using relatable analogies and real-life examples, adapting my approach to match how each person best absorbs information. My goal is not only to teach finance, but to make it understandable, relevant, and immediately applicable.
